DURING PHOTO NIGHT AT THE HOUSTON ZOO

(HOUSTON) May 31, 2011 … Photo Day becomes Photo NIGHT at the Houston Zoo on Thursday June 9, 2011.
The Houston Zoo’s Photo Days have been wildly popular, offering camera buffs early entry to the Zoo to take advantage of the early morning light and see our keepers at work as they prepare for the Zoo day.
But on Thursday, June 9 the Houston Zoo turns the concept on its head with Photo NIGHT from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., offering ticket holders the opportunity to shoot on Zoo grounds in the dusk and evening twilight.
Photo NIGHT ticket holders will be treated to light snacks and animal enrichment photo opportunities with lions, tigers, small cats, and bears. The evening also includes an introduction to night photography by Abel Longoria, founder and owner of the Texas Photo Forum.

Gates open at 6:30 p.m. for Photo NIGHT participants.

Walk-up registration available at 6:30 p.m. evening of event.

Children under 4 are FREE.
Photo Day Schedule of Events
6:30 – 7 p.m. Gates Open, check-in/registration, light snacks and introduction to night time photography by Abel Longoria, founder and owner of Texas Photo Forum.
7 – 8:30 p.m. Free roaming photo access to carnivore exhibit areas
7:30 p.m. Feeding photo opportunity at Tigers
7:30 – 8:30 p.m. Meet the Keeper Talks and animal enrichment activities at carnivore exhibits.
8:30 p.m. Guests escorted to Zoo exit as conclusion of Photo NIGHT.
