Mayor Annise Parker Announces
Third Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses Class
Mayor Annise Parker, the Mayor’s Office of Business Opportunity and Houston
Community College today announced that applications are currently being accepted
for the third class of the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses program. The
deadline for applying is February 15, 2012. Applicants must have been in business for
at least two years, have at least four employees, have a revenue stream of $150,000 to
$4 million annually and be poised for growth.
“By helping small businesses to grow, we boost the local economy and create jobs,”
said Mayor Parker. “As I stated in my inaugural address, creating jobs is my number
one job for my second term in office.”
The 11-session business management education program will meet from early
April to late June at Houston Community College’s Northwest and Southeast Campuses.
Classes are held from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Fridays and some Saturdays.
Participants are also required to commit six to eight hours per week for out-of-class
activities geared toward their businesses. Interested business owners should plan to
attend one of the following informational meetings.

First announced in February 2011, Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses is
designed to help local small business owners create jobs and economic opportunity
by providing them with greater access to business education, financial capital, and
business support services.
